The key objective of the Research Chair in Obesity is to develop a research program in obesity with a primary focus on the Chairperson’s research activities in partnership with his colleagues from Université Laval and elsewhere in Canada, the United States and Europe.

Also in concordance with its objectives is the Chair’s training program that contributes to the training of highly qualified personnel in a multidisciplinary and creative context.

The Chair’s highly regarded annual scientific symposium in Quebec City brings together world-renowned researchers to discuss advanced obesity research topics, and to top up its educational mission, the Chair held until 2012 the ‘Desjardins Scientific Conference’ series for researchers, clinicians and health professionals.

The Chair tends to the development of its bilingual Website dedicated to offering to a broader public information on the causes, consequences and treatment of obesity.
